We are proud to present the world premiere performance of The Sharecropper's Son, a major new song cycle by local composer Michael Stimpson, based on his 2011 opera Jesse Owens to a libretto by Grace Nichols, John Agard, and Michael Stimpson.

The song cycle will be performed by Njabulo Madlala (baritone, Opera Holland Park, Dorset Opera), Abigail Kelly (soprano, English Touring Opera), and William Vann (piano) in the presence of the composer and librettists and representatives from the American Embassy in London.

The evening will also feature a poetry performance by Grace Nichols and John Agard, and authentic period dixieland jazz from the Ashley Wood Festival Dixieland Jazz Band.
